About Rick

Rick Dollinger has public service in his blood, and possesses a rare combination of political courage and strong values that make him a great Democrat, and will make an exceptional State Senator. A Rochester native, Rick got his start in politics over 20 years ago when he was elected to serve in the Monroe County Legislature in 1987. Since then, Rick has been a legislator, a state senator, a Democratic county chair, and a judge, and in every one of those positions he's fought for the issues that matter most to upstate New Yorkers.
We can trust Rick because his values are our values. As a state senator, Rick fought to raise the minimum wage, protect a woman's right to choose, and to reform a state government that ranks as the most dysfunctional in the nation. Rick has always had the courage to stand up, no matter the odds, to advocate for what he believes is right. He's running to lower property taxes, to bring good paying jobs to the Rochester area, and to ensure a solid education for every New Yorker. Just as importantly, he's running to make Rochester work for us.
Rick currently lives in Brighton with his wife, Marilyn, and together have raised three children. Rick's community interests extend from the arts to charity work to environmental preservation. He was a founder of the Genesee Land Trust, Inc., which works to preserve environmentally sensitive lands. He has been active in Writers and Books and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also served on the boards of Saint Bernard's Institute, the Catholic Family Center, the National Kidney Foundation of Upstate New York and the Epilepsy Association of Greater Rochester, Inc.
